Thank you for your interest in Hive’s family of smart products and services. Hive has discontinued the direct sale of our products and related services in the United States and Canada effective December 31st, 2019.

We value our customers and will continue to support our products. We will notify our active customers of changes to how we support their app and devices. Please see a few of the Frequently Asked Questions regarding the decision to discontinue direct sales in the section below.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will my Hive devices be supported for?
    Please unplug any Hive devices which draw electricity from the mains. This includes your Hive Hub and cameras. As our server and Hive app are no longer operational, these devices have no function. All Hive devices can be responsibly recycled at your local recycling point for small electrical items.
  • What shall I do with my plugged-in Hive devices?
    Please unplug any Hive devices which draw electricity from the mains. This includes your Hive Hub and cameras. As our server and Hive app are no longer operational, these devices have no function. All Hive devices can be responsibly recycled at your local recycling point for small electrical items.
  • What about my battery-powered Hive devices?
    Battery-powered Hive devices such as motion and contact sensors will also cease to function when our server switches off. Please take these to your local recycling point for small electrical items, remembering to remove the batteries first (these can be recycled separately).
  • Will my Hive thermostat still work?
    You can no longer control your Hive thermostat via the Hive app, but you can still use it manually without connecting to Hive. You can find out more by checking out our thermostat user guide here
  • Are there any other Hive products I can still use?
    Hive active plugs and lights use Zigbee technology which means they can be reset and used with other networks in some cases. You can continue to use Hive plugs and lights with the following Zigbee hubs/devices:

    • 2nd Generation Echo Plus
    • 3rd Generation Echo Plus
    • Full-size 4th Generation Echo devices (not 4th Generation Echo Dot)
    • Echo Studio
    • Echo Show 10
    • 2nd Generation full-size Echo Show

    Hive active plugs and lights can also currently be paired with Alexa using Amazon Echo Plus. Please speak to Amazon for any advice on what you need or how to set up on their app and eco system.
  • What will Hive do with my account data?
    Our commitment to the security of your personal data remains unchanged by this decision. We will keep your personal information for as long as you have an account with us and will not sell your data to third parties. If you decide to close your account with us, we will keep your personal information for a reasonable period to maintain our records and legal obligations to you.
