Hive devices are compatible with other products and services like Amazon Echo, making your home even smarter.
If you’re new to Echo, it’s a super smart speaker from Amazon that responds to your voice.
With our Hive Hub you can connect Amazon Echo to all your Hive services. That way if you want to turn on your lights, all you need to do is ask. Alexa, lights on!
Getting started with Amazon Echo
Once you've bought Amazon Echo and downloaded the Alexa App, you’ll just need to enable the Hive skill to connect to Hive Active Thermostat, Hive Active Light LED bulbs, and Hive Active Plug.
Enable the Hive Skill
In your Alexa app, tap Skills in the menu and search for Hive. Tap Enable.
Enter your Hive username and password and follow the onscreen instructions.
Talk to Alexa
Now the fun part. Ask Alexa to control Hive. Check a full list of things you can control by clicking here.
Now you can use Google's voice-activated speaker to control your Hive Active Lights and Hive Active Plugs. With the Google Assistant, you can turn on your lights without pressing a button!
You can also set the dim and brightness level of Hive Active Lights as well as changing the color of the light.
Getting started with Google Home
Start by getting the Google Home app and setting up your Google Home if you have not done this already.
Add Hive Action
In the Google Home app tap the menu icon and select Home Control. Then tap the + button to see a list of Actions tapping Hive to select the Action.
Link your Hive Account
Now follow the in-app instructions to link your Hive account. Once complete you'll be able to say 'Ok Google, turn my lamp on' or 'Ok Google set hallway to 50%'.
IFTTT stands for If This, Then That. It’s a platform that gets different apps and devices talking to each other, making life even simpler.
It means you can link your favourite sports app, for example Map My Run, to your Hive devices. This way the house is at the perfect cool temperature when you are coming home from a jog. Or if you like, set the lights to turn on as soon as it gets dark by linking to your weather app.
