What are Hive Pet Friendly/Motion Sensors and how do they work?

Hive Motion Sensor:

The Hive Motion Sensor detects motion in your home and sends a notification to your phone via the Hive App. You can check on the app or online dashboard remotely to see whether the sensor has detected motion and you can also set schedules using Hive Actions so you only receive notifications at certain times of the day like when you are out of the home.

If you are an existing user of Hive and have one or more products already, you will not need any further kit and can set up your Hive Motion Sensor using your existing hub. If this is your first Hive product, you will need to purchase a Hive hub in order to set up your Hive Motion Sensor.

Pet Friendly Motion Sensor:

The Hive Pet Friendly Sensor is a PIR (Passive Infrared Sensor) motion sensor, which uses infrared technology to detect motion, day and night. Just like our Hive Motion Sensors, you can set this up to alert you to any motion it detects via push, email or text notifications, using Hive Actions.

Unlike our Hive Motion Sensor, however, the Pet Friendly Sensor will not detect any pets around the home under 36kg. So it’s ideal if you don’t want your small to medium-sized pet to set your sensor off, sending you false notifications or setting off your HomeShield alarm system.

The Pet Friendly Sensor will continuously monitor and detect motion within an 80º field of view with a range of up to 8 metres, looking out for any moving temperature patterns.

You can also choose to keep the status lights enabled or turn it off via the app for a more subtle look, while it continues to work in the background.
