Estimates use a Glow Green quote prepared in Easy PV for a two-storey home in Bournemouth with 11 panels on one south-facing roof under 8 metres wide and a 5 kW inverter. The household uses 3,500 kWh of electricity a year, is home half the day, pays 26.32p/kWh on the assumed Standard Variable Tariff (SVT) and receives 12p/kWh for electricity sold to the grid (SEG). The comparison uses a 5.76 kWh battery (EP6) and an 11.5 kWh battery (EP12), each at a total package price of £8,331.55, so the extra storage adds no upfront cost. In this example, the share of electricity needs met by solar and battery rises from 83.25% to 89.31%: a 6.06 percentage-point increase, or around 7.3% relative improvement (6.06 ÷ 83.25 × 100). Projected additional savings over 30 years are £74,898 − £69,819 = £5,079, with modelled payback 1 year shorter (8 − 7 years). In simplified terms, annual energy benefit equals electricity no longer bought from the grid (kWh) × £0.2632, plus electricity sold to the grid (kWh) × £0.12, before other costs.
