Savings based on charging at home during off‑peak hours on the Hive EV Tariff with Power+. Tariff rates use British Gas SVT pricing correct for 01/01/26–31/03/26 and EV Power Feb27 rates correct as of 20/02/26. Public charging comparison uses average UK public charging costs across all speeds from RAC Charge Watch (Q4 2025). Optimised customer charging consumption is based on 2025 Centrica DSR data. Home charging can be around 90% cheaper than public charging.
Saving of £163.75 based on the Ofgem medium annual gas consumption of 11,500 kWh at the January 2026 UK average unit price of 5.933 pence per kWh including VAT. Emissions saved per year: 508 kg CO2 (0.184kg per kWh). Actual savings will vary depending on individual circumstances.
Power+ is only available for customers with a compatible EV charger and a British Gas electricity tariff with a smart meter in credit mode. “A year’s driving” is based on an assumed annual mileage of 9,000 miles, rounded from Solera cap hpi data (January 2025) showing the average EV annual mileage is 8,740. Calculations use an assumed EV efficiency of 3.3 miles/kWh and the British Gas EV Power Mar27 tariff rates (as of 16/03/2026), with all charging completed in Power+ mode during off‑peak periods.
