Let’s champion the carers we care about
It’s Carer’s Week and it’s the perfect time to champion those who sacrifice so much to look after others.
As many as 1 in 8 people are now unpaid carers - they could be looking after a family member or friend who is elderly, has a disability or has a mental or physical illness. It’s likely that you know someone who is a carer, or you may even be a carer yourself. Now’s a great time to help make caring more visible and valued, and to find out about the support and resources available for carers.
Let Hive do some of the ‘looking after’ for you
Carers need all the support they can get, and sometimes it can be the littlest things that can make a big difference. Many of our Hive smart devices have features to help make a carer’s life easier, because they can control their devices from anywhere, with the Hive app. Here are a few Hive gadgets that can help.
Hive Active Heating
Many vulnerable or elderly people feel the cold more than others, and with a Hive Thermostat you can make sure they’re always warm and cosy without needlessly wasting energy.
When the weather improves you don’t have to rush back home just to turn the heating off, it’s easy to adjust the temperature on your phone with your Hive app. You can also pair your Hive Thermostat with a smart speaker so if you’re caring for someone with mobility issues, they can use their voice to turn the heating up and down.
Hive Smart Sensors & Hive Actions
Our Hive Smart Sensors can be placed around hallways, doorways and entrances to detect movement and respond to it. By setting up Hive Actions on your app, your home can turn into a super smart living space that seamlessly takes care of your loved one’s needs. For example, heating can be triggered by the opening of a door or lights can automatically turn on when motion is detected so they’re not fumbling in the dark for the light switch.
